How do I add a MySQL database in cPanel?
The following article explains how to add a MySQL database in cPanel. A recent security update to cPanel has disabled the ability to use phpMyAdmin to add new MySQL databases through cPanel. As a workaround, you can use cPanel's built-in MySQL database interface to add new MySQL databases. This procedure must be performed as the user for the domain, rather than as the administrator.
To add a MySQL database, please follow these steps:
- Open a web browser and connect to your cPanel Control Panel located at http://ip address:2083.
- Login as the user for the domain.
- From the main page, click MySQL databases.
- Enter a name for the database and click Add Db.
- Once the database creation completes, click Go Back.
- Enter a username and password for the database and click Add User.
- Once the user creation completes, click Go Back.
- Select the appropriate user and their privileges for the database.
- Click Add User to DB.
