How do I configure the iPhone for an Exchange mailbox?
The following article explains how to configure the iPhone to link to your Exchange mailbox. The process involves installing the necessary self-signed SSL certificate and then creating the account on your iPhone.
To install the certificate, please follow these steps:
- Right click and download the certificate to your local machine, hmc.cer
Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, you will need to change the File name to hmc.cer when specifying a location to download the file.
- Email the hmc.cer file to an email account already configured on your iPhone.
- On your iPhone, double-click the hmc.cer file in the email.
- When the installer appears, click Install.
- Click Install Now.
If you receive an error stating The root certificate could not be installed, this means the certificate has previously been installed on the iPhone.
To create the account on your iPhone, please follow these steps:
- From the Dashboard, click Settings.
- Under Settings, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Select Add Account...
- Select Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter the requested information:
- Email: enter the full email address
- Username: enter the full email address
- Password: enter the password for the mailbox
- Description: enter HMC
- Click Next.
- As the Server name, enter webmail.myexchangeemail.com
- Click Next.
- Set the following:
- Mail: ON
- Contacts: OFF
- Calendars: OFF
- Click Save.
